Washing Your Washer

I saw an article on Pinterest a few weeks ago about all of the things we skip cleaning that we shouldn’t. It was definitely an eye-opener. One of the things on the list was the clothes washer. After reluctantly inspecting mine, I realized that the post was right. My washer was DIRTY.

A. It’s a used washer.
B. My husband works outside in dusty West Texas.

So I got out my magic tools (aka: magic eraser, 409, and cleaning brush) and got to scrubbing. It didn’t take a lot of elbow grease, but there were a lot more nooks and crannies for dirt to hide in than I realized.

After cleaning out the dirt and scrubbing 409 all over it, I ran a load of just detergent.

I was surprised with the results. There was a noticeable difference in our laundry after the cleaning. Our clothes felt softer and even smelled better.

What I learned: don’t forget to clean your cleaning tools.
